When I try to run TotalHockey I get a message saying "Quicktime 3 or later is required", what does this mean?
In order for the video to play in TotalHockey you must have Quicktime 6.0 or later installed your computer. Although the message screen reads "Quicktime 3" the video will not play unless Quicktime 6 is installed. A free installer of the program is included with the program and will install Quicktime for you. You can also download Quicktime for free at www.apple.com/quicktime/download. Note: Windows 95 Users - install Quicktime from the TotalHockey CD. The Quicktime Version available online (6.3) will not run on Windows 95 machines.
Can I run Total Hockey without Quicktime?
The TotalHockey program will run but you will not be able to watch any video. You will be able to read text and view charts and diagrams.
Video playback is jerky or slow, why is this?
Video playback may be slow and jerky on older computers. Computers running at less than 500mhz processor speeds and/or less than 128mbs of RAM and with older video cards and CD drives make experience poor video playback. To get better video performance close other programs while running TotalHockey and/or copy the TotalHockey CD to your harddrive. Each CD requires about 700mbs of space to copy to the harddrive.
Can I copy to and run TotalHockey from my computer's harddrive?
Yes, to copy the CD to you harddrive do the following:
1) Create a new folder on the harddrive (you can name it whatever you want)
2) Double click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.
3) Right Click on the "Total Hockey" CD icon and select "Open"
4) Select all files in the CD window and copy them to the folder you created on your harddrive.
5) Double click the "TotalHockey.exe" file in the folder to launch the program.
Note: You will need about 700mbs of space for each CD on your harddrive.
Can I make copies of the TotalHockey CDs for my organization?
You may not make copies of the TotalHockey to give to others. Please feel free to copy the CDs to your hard drive for your own use. You will need to make sure you have enough harddrive space to load the CDs - Each CD takes about 700mbs of space. We only ask that you do not give or copy the CDs to other people. Giving a copy to someone else while keeping the original yourself is Software Piracy. Making a copy on your own computer for your own use and keeping the CD as a backup is perfectly legal and encouraged if it helps you get more out of the program. What are the system requirements for TotalHockey?
Windows: TotalHockey will run on any computer running Windows 95 / 98 / ME / 2000 / XP. However you may notice that the video playback is "jerky" or "choppy" on machines that are slower than a Pentium 4 / 500mhz / 128MBs RAM. If you have an older machine please see above to find out how to optimize the video playback.
Macintosh: TotalHockey will run on any computer running Mac OS X or later. However you may notice that the video playback is "jerky" or "choppy" on machines that are slower than a G4 / 500mhz / 128MBs RAM. If you have an older machine please see above to find out how to optimize the video playback.
Why do I get a white (or black) screen when I play the video clips?
After Program has been running for an extended period of time: After using the program for an extended period of time without restarting, you may experience problems with video playback. Simply restart the program and the problem will resolve itself.
On Program Launch: If the video plays a white or black screen / plays audio only / or plays video with no audio as soon as you launch the program, you are experiencing problems because there are multiple versions of Quicktime installed on your machine. You will not be able to remove all the versions of Quicktime using the standard uninstaller. You will have to remove Quicktime manually. To do so initiate a search for Quicktime files and delete all Quicktime files from your computer. Then run TotalHockey and run the Quicktime Installer when instructed to do so.
Can I expand the TotalHockey window to fill my entire monitor?
Yes, by resetting the computer monitor resolution to 800x600 the TotalHockey screen will cover your entire monitor.
Why can't I print? (Macintosh users only)?
Currently the print feature is not available for Macintosh users.
Why is the menu window in the lower left portion of the screen not working correctly?
If the navigation/menu window is not working properly, simply restart the program. The problem will resolve itself.
